Day 109

Somehow, someway, I completely forgot I even had a blog post I had to write yesterday. I got home from work and spent the rest of the evening without even a whisper of a thought. Sometimes I miss a post because I think “oh, I will get to it later”, and then I fall asleep. But last night, for some reason, I didn’t even have enough of an awareness to put it off.

This is why I believe trained and initiated Hermeticists (Modern Mystery School students on the Healer and/or Ritual Master Paths) make better Teachers than the rest of humanity. Because we learn that there’s more than one reason why something like this would happen. It’s not because I am stupid nor lazy, nor losing my mind nor becoming forgetful. All of those things are definitely possible, but there are other possibilities as well.

On a related yet unrelated note: critical thinking is necessary to being able to establish healthy boundaries.

Critical thinking is the skill that allows you to absorb information, observe situations, without automatically being polarized to it one way or the other.

From what I have observed, a rare few are truly able to do this today.

Everybody has the potential to develop these skills – patience, observation, taking in information without letting it sway you one way or the other emotionally. The wise elder, standing like a strong pillar even as the Earth shatters and shakes around you.

Unfortunately, there are very few elders in our society who are actually holding themselves to this potential. And even fewer Millenials are trying WITHOUT a role model to look up to or someone to hold them to that standard with some guidance.

If you are feeling the gap between “what we could be” and “where we are” as a society, as a culture, as a civilization, or even as a human race, you would probably (definitely) benefit from observing the Leadership of the Modern Mystery School. People in these positions of leadership hold the potential for all of humanity to be the wise citizens of Earth that we wish to see in the world. The people we can look up to in order to become who we wish to be.

I won’t give any personal opinion on each individual on that page of the Modern Mystery School Western Headquarters website. I think, if you go there, you should get to decide who to learn about and why. Practice your own critical thinking, do your own research, and even let your intuition guide you with an open heart and mind.

All I will say, in case it is not already painstakingly clear, that I admire each and every person on that page, and this one for the very reasons I have already stated. Because I feel a deep gap and desire for the world we could all be living in vs the one we are blessed with. And I seek to become the change that I wish to see, rather than ignoring the issue, pretending it doesn’t exist, or complaining that things are not perfect and yet choosing to do nothing good, positive, healthy, nor helpful to make it better. So I have searched for decades for Teachers who can help me do just that, and when I found them I committed to the possibility that maybe one day I will get to join their ranks. Or maybe even birth a new era…

So, what is today’s journaling prompt?

You guessed it, just as well as I did.

What kind of role models are you seeking in the world today?

Let’s say you’re doing what I did when I found the Modern Mystery School.

Imagine that you are attending a fair, like a career fair, or a college fair. You are looking for people who can teach you how to live the best life imaginable. The one that we’ve been exploring. A life that brings you maximum inner fulfillment as well as great financial success and everything else you can imagine that you believe would make life not just worth living but worth sharing with other people.

Also – a side question, before we continue. Why do we equate “following” with “success” today? Is it a misunderstanding or is it actually based on some sort of reality, that the more people who look to you as a leader actually means something?

Back to the prompt. So you’re looking for a fair to attend, a “role model” fair. Or even a “teaching” fair. I was looking for an opportunity to talk to lots of different healing professionals and see if there were any I wanted to study with. I wanted to talk to different teachers in person, learn about what they offered, what kind of value their clients found with it, and if it was something I wanted to commit time to train in. I wanted to find someone who would hold me accountable as I learned, also. Make sure I was doing the work correctly, according to a system, so it had integrity and wasn’t just my own thing.

Let’s say that is what you are looking for too, even if “healing” isn’t your thing.

What kind of role models would you be looking for in this fair? Do you have a list of qualities you would be seeking in your Teacher(s), or would you make the decision based more on “vibes”?

Either way, it’s okay. But what I want you to do, since we are journaling, is to put whatever you’re looking for into some kind of container. Words, visuals, you can even create a vision board embodying the “vibe” if that is what you want to do.

Also, ask yourself this question: When I find my Teacher(s), and I am clear that they are the people I want to learn from, am I going to have a greater desire for THEM to do everything they can to make me look good, or will I seek to do everything I can to help THEM build? If something goes wrong, will I sit back and watch how they handle it, will I try to fix it myself, or both? Even if you don’t have an answer yet, or even if the question isn’t totally grounded and clear without a stronger explanation/example, just ask yourself. Asking opens the door to understanding, even if it takes some time to get there.

You can even write the question down, if that will help you ground it.

So, you have your project for today. Day 109’s journaling prompt will be “what will you want to achieve with your Teacher(s)?”

Also, if you find yourself asking “why do I need Teachers anyway?” make that a part of your journaling prompt for today and/or tomorrow too. That’s a great question you’re asking. Why do you need them? What do you want them to help you do that you can’t do on your own? And why can’t you do it without them?

Have you tried already and failed?

Or…is there another reason?

My answer, which I already gave you, can also include the fact that I had tried to do it on my own, a little bit. And I had a sense that I really wanted someone else to taught me what they knew. I admitted that I didn’t have all the answers.

At the Modern Mystery School, my Teachers have reminded me that I actually do have all the answers within me. I don’t need to be taught anything. What I need are people who help me remember.

You probably do too.
