Day 110

I already shared the content for Day 110 yesterday. It is related to the prompt from Day 109, so hopefully you are going in order.

Today’s prompt is this:

If a Master of Light appeared in front of you today, ready to Teach you anything you wanted to learn, what would you ask Him or Her to help you learn/remember?

Yesterday’s prompt was – how would that Teacher appear to you? What kind of qualities would He or She possess? Hopefully you included an actual physical appearance in your assessment.

I always think of an Asian master, primarily. Chinese, maybe Japanese, I’m not sure exactly. I know they are different but I don’t want to limit my options by choosing one ancient culture over another. I would prefer someone who embraces the best of both worlds, like choosing not to choose between a North American and a European white person.

This Master I imagine is a short, bald, quiet, serious older man in a respectable robe, not a bathrobe, and not a kimono, more like what monk’s wear except he is not a monk. I imagine that this Teacher wields a long, sharp bamboo stick. He doesn’t really say much to me most of the time, he just *whack* hits me with the stick whenever I do something stupid. And it hurts.

The pain helps bring clarity faster than someone who talks to me. I wasn’t seeking a teacher who enjoyed lecturing just to hear the sound of his own voice when all I need is a few words from him anyway. I wanted a Teacher attuned to my potential, not someone who wanted me as his “muse” or his follower.

This Teacher, in my imagination, calls me “arrogant” a lot, “ungrateful”. I am white, so I try my best to understand. From the Chinese and Japenese perspective, I think all of us Viking-blooded people are boisterous, loud, overbearing, obnoxious. On some primal level, we value brute strength over reflection, calm, and quiet intellect. You might call us all “colonizers”, I say “conquerers of lands far and wide”. IDK, I am okay with that TBH. Better to be a conquerer seeking Enlightenment than an intellectual person who cannot hold his or her own against someone big, dumb, and strong.

I take what this Teacher has to say about me to heart, trying to understand life from his perspective rather than argue and defend that he’s “abusing me” with his words and his quick, sharp raps with his bamboo stick.

This Teacher is ultimately wise, he is patient and genuinely kind, even if you don’t see things that way. He does believe in me, he just prefers efficiency and not wasting time. I prefer the same. That is why I sought him as my Teacher, my inner Guide.

Besides, it’s not like the stick will kill me in the way that he’s using it to teach me. It’s just enough pain for me to realize that when there’s no pain, I’m doing something correctly.

So that is a brief glimpse into the Master of Light I imagine I am training with today.

What does yours look like?

And what do you want Him or Her to Teach you?

There’s an interesting thing I want to share here. In the Modern Mystery School tradition, we have Teachers at the highest level. In colleges and Universities of Higher Education you call them Professors, people who have trained for a long time and with great passion and zest in order to be known as experts in their field.

In the Modern Mystery School, we call those Teachers Ipsissimi/e.

Chart explaing how the Ipsissimus title changes depending on whom is being described by it

Ipsissimi/e remind me somewhat of genies. They gain their wisdom and expertise by doing great service to humanity.

In life, every question opens a new door. Therefore, asking an Ipsissimus or Ipsissima a question about ANYTHING is very much like asking a genie to grant you a wish. Except – there are some distinct differences, both in how a genie lives and how an Ipsissimus grants your wish.

For the sake of ease of reading and writing, I am going to stick to the masculine version for both the Genie and the Ipsissimus. What I write can be applied to both men and women in both roles.

GenieIpsissimus
Lives in a lamp, essentially a tiny, one-bedroom, cramped prison cell that maybe he gets to decorate.Lives a life of great wealth and flowing abundance that He learns to cultivate by using tools of the Light.
Anyone can rub the lamp and immediately get to make a wish.Has healthy boundaries around whom He serves, how, when, and why.
Most powerful being on the planet, but has no freedom to decide how he uses that power. No possibility that he can benefit from his own power himself, even if a human wishes for his freedom. He would still have to ask a genie to grant him three wishes if he became free.Arguably the most powerful person on the planet, and the most free. Cultivates freedom within the self and outside of it through standards, discipline, rules, following through on commitments, and deciding for himself to do what it takes to be free and powerful simultaneously.
Limited in the number and/or types of wishes he can grant any one person.Capacity to serve is limited only by the Ipsissimus’ desire, condition, and will.
When a Genie grants a wish, the desired result appears automatically. He snaps his fingers, and the recipient of the wish doesn’t have to do anything else other than ask in order to receive it.When an Ipsissimus grants a wish, it is not automatic. You ask an Ipsissimus to help you with something, and He may hand you the key to figure out how to make your own wishes come true.

In case it isn’t painstakingly obvious, I really only have two versions of “genie” to draw from. One is, of course, Jeannie from “I Dream of Genie”. She doesn’t have a limit on wishes, but she is stuck serving whover opens her bottle. Her whole life revolves around serving her “master” and making him happy.

The other is, obviously, Genie from “Aladdin”. The only way these two characters disagree that I can think of is that Aladdin’s Genie can only grant three wishes to any one master before his contract is complete. I believe that’s a common theme among other fictional genie characters as well but I don’t have any that I recall clearly enough to draw from right now.

The main difference, that the chart is intended to make clear is this: A Genie doesn’t teach you how to create magick in your own life. Maybe they could, if someone wished for that, but no one seems to. “Masters” treat genies like slot machines.

An Ipsissimus isn’t here to be treated like a human scratch-off ticket. One of the ways He serves is to help you remember your potential as a human being, as God in the flesh.

Maybe this is a rude comparison in some ways. If it is, I hope I come to learn that with grace and clarity quickly.

I think it might be obnoxious to be an Ipissima and have people asking me to grant them wishes all day, just for me to give them a kind and encouraging response while working magick they may not necessarily be aware of immediately. But I do believe there is at least some truth behind my comparison anyway. Ipsissimus and Ipsissima make dreams a reality by empowering you to make your own dreams come true.

The role of someone with this title and authority is to help guide those who are genuinely seeking higher wisdom and understanding. He or She also possesses a truly genuine and deep desire to serve, as does every single hard-working person from anywhere in the world who would willing give up riches in order to improve the state of the world for other people.

At the end of the day, the greatest service that can be done in this capacity is to empower those who are seeking so they may find a better way.

So, if you encountered an Ipsissima or Ipsissimus in your quest to find a Teacher, what would you ask Him or Her to help you learn? He or She can help you access any level of higher consciousness available. Your limits are defined only by your imagination and your awareness of that which is possible and/or good.
