Day 50

I apologize for the brief post yesterday on Day 49. My brain was soft like room-temperature butter after spending a day at my favorite spa, SoJo Spa Club in Edgewater, New Jersey. SoJo Spa Club

I will not bore you with the details of my adventure, but if you are curious, you can read about it here: Walk through SoJo Spa Club without your phone, please.

In short, it was AWESOME! I love SoJo Spa.

Anyway, back to the journaling prompt of the day.

Today, we are going to focus on hips. Both hips, left and right, and the lower back and belly in between them.

I have been using this interesting fascia massage wand all day to work out some tension in my hips and shins. I avoid my knees as much as possible since that’s always been impressed upon me by any Teachers I work with. Protect your knees, do not over exert them or apply pressure to them unless you are trained in how to do so. Your knees are complex areas of the body. Have you ever studied how they are all connected?

My brother had knee surgery a few years ago, and that caused me to think about them. If your knees are tight, or if you experience knee pain, I recommend seeing a doctor of medicine (medical doctor, MD) to inquire about exercises you can do to give yourself some relief.

As for today’s journaling prompt, you can include your knees if you want to. This is not medical advice, this is advice for becoming more aware of and grateful to your physical vessel as a way of experiencing life.

The main focus today is the hips, lower belly and lower back. Everything is connected.

Over the next few days we will be working up. Tomorrow will be shoulders, neck, throat, and chest.

The next day will be ears, temples, and all around the top of the head. Hopefully as you work through this, you start to notice or deepen your awareness of connections between these different parts. For example, when I was using the fascia massage wand on my lower belly, the front of my neck started to tense up and then relax.

When I was using it on my lower back, my hips started asking for more in certain areas. Just listen to your body.

Now, for the journaling part.

Yes, you can write down sensations you experience as you focus on these areas of your body. Remember today: hips, lower belly, lower back. Knees if they’re grabbing at your awareness. Feet? Ok, sure. Toes? Why not? Heels, arches, balls of the feet? Whatever “comes online” for you, whatever enters your awareness and your mind, write them down.

Ask yourself “what can I do to help you relax today? How can I help you heal? How can I release the tension that you hold in this area?”

There are a lot of moving parts that hold our bodies together and allow us to operate. Even as I type this on my computer, my wrist is asking me to give it some loving attention. What does that mean? Well it’s different for each of us and the tools we use.

I just happen to have this fascia device lying around. It has been in my room for years without being used. Today, I decided to pick it up after my day at the spa and relaxing Head-to-Toe Rebalancing Massage at SoJo Spa. I likely will not use it on the front of my throat tomorrow, but maybe I will with just a light amount of pressure. Who knows?

Do you know why you are carrying so much tension in these lower parts of your body? Do you have a sense of what is stored here for you?

Maybe that is worth journaling about, even if the answer is “No, I don’t. Not yet anyway.”

Keep going!

You will notice, I did not put the buttons at the top of the page today. I will keep them at the bottom, but going forward there will be no way to move forward or back at the top of the page.
