Here we are. The beginning of a fresh new chapter. I bet the books you could write are incredible. Amazing. Seriously.
For the next 30 days, I want us to do something special.
We just spent the last 30 days talking about if you were fictitious versions of yourself, what would you spend your life doing and why?
Well, what about the real you?
I think I have raised this question once or twice in the earlier stages of our journaling prompt series. Now is the time to do a deeper dive.
Today is Day 0. Foundation day. For the next 30 days, 31 if we include today, we will be focusing on the big picture and small details of your life’s real purpose.
Not what you have to do day to day in order to survive.
Foundation building is key here. Even though YOU are the subject of the next 30 days, we have to remove some of the limitations of the “real world” for this.
I want you to stop thinking in terms of “if I could afford it”, “if I didn’t have to pay rent”, “if I needed to make enough money to eat every month”, etc. etc.
Those are real world limitations that stop you from touching into that which is real within you. The purpose of this segment of journaling prompts is touch into that which is real to you.
Promise yourself that for the next 31 days, you are going to ignore your fears. You can write them down if you want to, side bar them, but you’re not going to let them stop your dreams from coming through clearly. It might take some time, some practice. It might take a few days to realize that the voice in your head keeps nagging you with the same “problems” everytime you sit down to write this. Don’t let that voice stop you. Let it express itself, preferably on it’s own page. That voice – as backwards as this might seem – is the voice of something or someone that has been trying to protect you.
You see, as we all grow, we learn that it is unsafe to dream. So we hire these different “beings” or we give these different aspects of ourselves jobs to keep us safe. Those different parts are the ones that tell us to focus on work and stop thinking about our higher purpose. They tell us it’s stupid to tell others what we want to do. Those voices are mimicking the messages we’ve received from the world when we were too naive to realize that the world was wrong for telling us these things.
There are steps you can take to fire those voices for good. Some people call this part of you your inner critic, or your inner protector. I like to think that it belongs to different angels that you hired when you were young to fight your battles for you, but they could only communicate with you so they worked hard to keep you in line rather than create space for you to express yourself fully.
It’s time to fire them. Universal Hermetic Ray Kabbalah through the Modern Mystery School is the only system I’ve found on the planet that helps me fire mine.
Until you’re ready to walk the Path of Progression in the Lineage of King Salomon, those voices will remain with you. But they don’t have to limit everything you do. That is why I am offering you these journaling prompts as one way of at least becoming aware of them and limiting their influence.
So what you’re going to do over the next 30/31 days is write down every limiting belief that makes itself known to you. Whether it’s “you could never do this because you’re too fat” or “you’re too dumb, too slow, too short, you can’t jump high enough for that”. “That’s a stupid dream”, “you can never earn a living doing that”. “Oh my God you’re so selfish for wanting to do that. Your life purpose should be about helping people, Oh my God!” “You’re a bad person for wanting that”.
If your life purpose isn’t a direct expression of wanting to harm children or other people, than you’re not a bad person for having a dream. Even if that dream is centered around you and only you.
That’s a lie we have ALL been told to believe, and berated if we refuted it. Horribly.
If your dream is to own a Medspa, you’re not a terrible person for wanting to receive treatments once or twice a month.
So whenever a negative thought enters your mind, give it a voice in a space in your journal that is dedicated solely to negativity. Keep it away from your dream. You might just get lucky and discover a pattern in the timing and types of awarenesses you receive.
Now that you’ve dedicated half of your journal to negative beliefs, the other half is going to be on answering questions related to what you want your purpose to be.
The best news is that YOU get to decide what your purpose is. You get to try things on for size. You get to change your mind. You don’t have to commit to a single thing, not for these next 30 days or after. Theory can’t help you make a commitment. The best thing you can do once you start coming up with ideas is trying to gain direct experience.
I have one specific person coming to mind here. If you think your purpose is to help people in the medical field, have you volunteered in a hospital yet? Have you spent any time around the people that you want to help? Have you even tried? Just because something seems like a noble profession doesn’t mean it’s what you are meant to be.
Choosing a purpose based on other people’s opinions of you isn’t going to lead anywhere except a quarter-life crisis at 25, and a mid-life crisis at 43. Save yourself the headache and drama today. Write down those negative beliefs that other people have to think you’re entering a noble profession, or that it has to earn you six figures right out the gate.
And then we will start dreaming.
Your assignment today? You got it.
1. Create the sections of your journal:
- 1 Negative Ideas/Emotions (we’ll talk more about the emotions part later) and
- 2 Dreams
2. Start writing down whatever negative beliefs come to mind. Give them a voice on paper, please.
If you have inklings of ideas of what you want your purpose to be, you can start writing them down in the ‘Dreams’ section.
That’s it for today!
See you tomorrow 🙂
