Day 128

Can Millenials become Merlin in this day and age? Can Gen Z become Knights of the Round Table – the honourable kind? Can people from every generation STOP revering Robin Hood and Peter Pan as heroes of some kind and focus on becoming REAL heroes?

This is a topic for a different discussion, but I feel it so certainly this morning that I wanted to include it today. Somewhat as a follow-up from the work we did yesterday and also as a teaser for what is to come. Now onto the real journaling prompt for today:

Wholeness doesn’t come from another person. It doesn’t come from being part of a “divine couple”, or from “finding your soulmate”. It doesn’t come from anything nor anyone outside of yourself. You cannot become truly wealthy (more than just having a lot of money) off of the backs of other people. You cannot build your kingdom by stealing from those who have built their own.

Wholeness starts and ends within. By embodying your whole self. Your divine spark. Your essence of individuation from the greater whole that all humans are a part of.

We are all One. We are all God and Goddess already. This is why stealing doesn’t work in the Spiritual realm. The means does not justify the ends, it robs you of what you are seeking.

Needing one person to “complete” you is the same as needing ALL humans to complete you. It’s a distraction. A trap, some might say. Because if your need for wholeness is directed towards something or someone outside of yourself, one thing or one person will never, ever, ever be enough.

You will keep wanting, needing, searching, seeking. You’ll get what you’re aiming for, it will be enough for a while, and then you’ll need more.

When you stop looking outside of yourself for something or someone to “complete” you, where else can you turn?

That is when it is time to go within. Wholeness is found within you. Wealth is more than having a lot of money in the bank, or feeling like you’ve done a lot of good deeds.

If you skipped yesterday’s Bonus Content, I recommend going back and checking it out before you move forward.

That is what these 31 days, and really this whole thing we call “life” is about.

To find the connection you’re seeking outside of yourself within you first, foremost, and forever. And then, from that place of connection, to move throughout the world differently. Better. Improved. Healthy. Healing. A Warrior. One who can help others head in the same direction if they so choose to go there with you as a Guiding Light.

But without that cohesion within yourself, without that connection, you have nothing to share. Except needing. Yearning. Searching. Seeking. Desperation. You go to extreme lengths to meet your “needs”, and then you look back on your life and see nothing but ruin and destruction in your selfish wake. You build connections on “give” and “take”, rather than “express” and “create”.

Which one is better, do you think? Which paradigm would you rather be centered in?

I value expression rather than neediness. I prefer to work together on things and create something meaningful, rather than manage a ledger based on who gave what and how much it was worth to the other.

You can’t compete with someone else over a sense of inner wholeness. You can compete, cheat, lie, and steal for a job, to have a “better” relationship status, over a man or woman themselves (ie. a love triangle). You can compete and degrade another, or yourself, over approval from another person such as a parent, guardian, teacher, or mentor. You can compete underhandedly over grades and GPAs. You can compete over who’s the better friend, the better lover, who’s more popular and/or more well-liked. You can compete over fashion and appearance, status, who earns more money and who spends more. Everything external, you can compete over. You can undermine all of your efforts by pulling out all the stops in order to guarantee a “win” on paper.

Everything that can be compared is a battle that you can enter into. You can even compete over who is more wise, although to do so would reveal that neither of you had cultivated much wisdom or anything of value.

But inner wholeness? That is a two-fold victory in and of itself. One victory is that you cannot compare who has more cohesion within themselves. The comparison is impossible, therefore it is erased as you make this your goal. And two, the more you focus on developing a greater connection with yourself within, the more your desire to prove anything to anyone else, ever again fades away into eternity.

There is nothing to prove. There is nothing to compare. You can just…relax. Slow down. Focus within. Find the sense of satisfaction you had been chasing “out there” comes easily when you meditate, when you receive healings, when you sit in a class designed to bring you into greater cohesion with Your Self.

Your sense of victory, honour, and respect come from the very efforts you pour into you. You become settled. Self-satisfied, and not in a way that makes you a jerk or an asshole. Although you may still appear that way to some people, you are better able to chalk it up to the reality that they are still dealing with their own competitive drive and ego battles within themselves. You can just sit back, relax, and let them fight in their mind against their own egos, while making it seem that you are what they are fighting against. You can actually learn to shrug it off while watching them implode.

So today, I want you to keep track of all the ways that you feel compelled to compete with other people. Where do you feel your defenses rise whenever you think about what another person has that you don’t and vice versa?

Keep track of who the people are, what you’re competing over, who’s competing with whom, and most importantly, how do you define “winning” or “losing”? If you want to write down who you think is winning vs who you think is losing, that’s also information that might help you navigate this arena.

If you make the outside world the only place where you can see God, you will never form a real connection with the beauty of being You.

So keep a log or a diary, or a journal entry, of your competitions with other people – whether they are formed out loud, unspoken, or only to you. And even where you sense other people might be competing with and/or jealous of you. Ask yourself those same questions – who, what is the subject of the competition, what does it mean to “win” or “lose” and who is “winning” vs who is “losing”? Anything else that comes to mind, you know what to do with it (write it down :).
