Day 65

Be gentle with yourself today. I’m not sure why I feel this way.

Yesterday, we focused on what dollar amount could buy your betrayal of your Super Hero Oath – if you were to ever make one with yourself.

That is a big question to ponder. First, it takes a lot to imagine that you could ever vow to save a Kingdom, a City, a Nation, or the World at large. It is fun to wonder what qualities you would get to express in order to take on such a task, or a mission, if you would call it that.

It takes an even greater mind to then consider tossing that oath aside purely for self gratification.

I am proud of you for taking the step forward. I noticed some resistance to the question yesterday. If you are one of the people who says they don’t have a price point, my response to you is “you are still not treating this as a real scenario. It is still theoretical to you. If you let it be a potential reality, you will figure out what your loyalty to Good is worth to you. Everybody has a price, when real money is involved. Commit to finding yours, even if you just make it up right now.”

So if you skipped yesterday’s journaling exercise, I highly recommend you work on that today instead. You can do this one tomorrow.

Trust me, it’s worth it. Put the number down. Go back and review the other questions. Write the answers, even if you feel completely detached from them. This is just an exercise in using your imagination and being radically honest and accepting in what you express when no one else is watching you.

That is all this whole thing is.

So stop judging yourself. Stop trying to be “good” or “on your best behavior”. Nobody cares. Nobody is paying attention to what you write in your journal. If you are afraid they are, then destroy your writings after. But don’t not write them down first.

Once you are done with that, come back and we will move ahead together.

Did you finish your journaling prompt from Day 64? Be honest.

If you did, I am really proud of you! Like I said, I know that one was hard to follow through on.

That is why today is a day to be gentle. Just relax. Chill. Give yourself a pat on the back for doing something you were afraid to do. Or resistant to. Didn’t want to do.

We all hit moments of resistance on this path. I do, more often than I would like to admit sometimes.

So here is your journaling prompt for Day 65. Are you ready?

It’s simple. It’s easy.

All you are going to write today is “I did it.”

That’s it.

No questions to answer. No soul-searching. No pushing through to the other side.

Just a simple declaration to yourself. “I did it.” You followed through on something that you really didn’t want to do.

Even if you had 0 resistance to yesterday’s prompt, you still get to give yourself kudos for following through. “I did it”. You get to write that too. Because it’s true!

You did it! And look at how much else you have done since you started this journaling challenge. Whether you started at Day 0, Day 30, or Day 61, it doesn’t matter. You’re here. You’re following through. You’re moving forward.

We all should be in the habit of giving ourselves a pat on the back. No one else is going to do that for you. Especially not people who have been doing this work longer than you, who have worked harder than you, who have sacrificed more than you have. They want you to keep going, but they’re not going to praise you for doing less than what they have done. Especially when you are the only one benefitting from the work you’ve done so far.

This is why Service is part of the Path to living a life of Fulfillment. Because Service is sharing that which brings you Joy. That is why this journaling path exists. So you can get clear on how you desire to serve in order to live a life of fulfillment and fun. You cannot have one without the other two.

You are done with your journaling prompt for the day, once you write those three small words. “I did it”. They are barely even words. One of them is just the letter “I”.

Take a break from journaling after that. You are done. If you want to keep writing whatever comes to mind, go for it! You should! Get out whatever you are thinking. Connect paper and pen, and let your thoughts flow link ink (or graphite) on parchment.

When you are done, make sure you give yourself a pat on the back. A real one. You earned that kind of recognition from yourself. I have been doing it two times, one for each shoulder blade.

See you tomorrow 🙂
