You did it 🙂
You made it to Day 61. We have come so far, and yet with 365 days of this we are just getting started.
So today, we are going to take this opportunity to wrap up any loose ends. Tomorrow we will set the foundation for a new 30 day cycle.
Our final focus was on heroes, villains, and those who play for both sides. I want you to ask yourself today – is there anything that would make you want to stay a villain?
Is there anything that would stop you from becoming a Hero in your own life?
I’m not asking you if there is anything that would make you want to be a hero who fights mostly in the dark. One of my favorite heroes is Jessica Jones. She is a loner, a bounty hunter, a detective who works in the shadows mostly. She might seem like a villain, but she is not.
I am asking if there is anything that would make you want to remain in your Joker phase. Any sort of treatment from the outside world that would make you want to not move towards the Light or working for the good of humanity but against it.
We all have these conditions. This potential exists for every single one of us.
The thing that would make me not want to become a hero once I found my voice and my power to stand on my own two feet? If I earnestly believed that I would live a better life fighting to make the world a worse place for all. If I genuinely believed it would make life better for the people I care about most of all. Because to me, that’s a loophole. Right? Can you see it? If the thing that separates those I am fighting against vs those I am fighting for is whether or not I care about them, then I can flip the script by caring about everyone.
So what would be the thing that could make you stop halfway through your Hero’s Journey? What would cause you to remain stuck as a villain? Be honest with yourself. Write it down. What would it take to make you use your power to harm instead of heal?
Gobs of money? The promise that you would never go hungry again, or that your children would always be taken care of? Everybody has a weakness. Every villain, every hero, every human being has at least one. What is yours?
You have to know this. You have to be honest. You have to get clear. My weakness is…and write it down. It’s okay if it’s awful. It’s okay if you feel the compulsion to judge yourself. This journaling prompt is just for you. We just finished another 30 day cycle. If you want to destroy your journal, you are free to do that. Then no one will ever know what you admitted when you were being totally honest with yourself.
Throw that stuff away if you want to. Burn it. Soak it in water. Tear it to shreds. Do whatever you want to make it a thing of the past. I don’t know if I will destroy my journal just yet. I might wait until it’s full. I also carry mine around with me 24/7 so that I know no one else is going to take a peek at it. My privacy is high key important to me.
It should be to you too. Especially if you are being radically honest with yourself.
See you tomorrow for foundation building for phase 3!
