Day 38

Hello there! Welcome to a new day of journaling ideas!

I want to address something really quickly. If you’re like me and you forget a day of journaling, I want you to know that it’s okay.

There is no pressure to journal every single day. There isn’t even pressure to do these journaling prompts in order. We don’t have to do everything together.

These prompts are simply an invitation for you to participate in a structure I have created. You can do this at your own pace, in your own style, in your own way.

If you every feel like you need more clarity from me on what a prompt means, you have two choices. 1) Leave a comment and ask me, or 2) Ask yourself what you think I mean and do it that way.

I’ve been writing these prompts and then missing a day lately. I make it up the next day. I catch up, because it’s important to me to do what I recommend other people do. I like to know what the process does for me so that I can share that too.

I’m doing these journaling prompts for the first time myself. I started them on a whim and kept them going on that same whim. So, we’re in this for the long haul even if neither of us has any idea what the next day looks like yet.

If that causes your confidence in my journaling prompts to waver, that’s okay. You’re allowed to doubt me, to reject my ideas, or walk away altogether. Everything is not for everyone.

But that’s why the disclaimer on my website is that you choose to take full responsibility for what occurs as a result of engaging with any of my content. I would love to extend that to my social media pages as well.

I make no promises for what you will get out of these journaling prompts. I know they are helping me on a deeper level, which is why I am excited to share them with you for a full 12 months.

One day I may remove this warning and give it it’s own space to exist on my site.

For now, it is the entry way into Day 38. Let’s begin:

Let’s focus on Light today.

  • What does Light mean to you?
  • What does Light do for you in your life?

When I think of Light, I imagine the overhead Light. It reveals that which we cannot see without it. Sometimes it is harsh on our eyes. It can take us by surprise when someone turns it on without warning. Light can cause us to squint reflexively and get upset, yelling at whoever turned it on to “turn it off! it’s too bright!”.

Ultimately, though, Light is what offers us the ability to see. Without Light, you are stuck in the dark.

So what can Light do in your life? What if you turned on the overhead Light in your own life, in a way that it didn’t cause you to demand darkness again in order to protect your eyes? Or to protect your comfort level with what you can see without it?

We’re in it now folks. Get ready for more tomorrow. Prepare yourself today. Write everything that comes to mind. Get it out on paper πŸ™‚

Love you! See you soon!
